Since she launched her first collection Chie Mihara has become something of a favourite for fashion journalists and fashionistas worldwide. Both her parents are Japanese, and she has lived in Japan between the ages of 18-22 when she studied fashion design at the Japanese design school Kyushyu Design Gakkuin. The first two years after graduation, she worked as a fashion assistant to the Japanese designer Junko Koshino. Then she moved to New York, where she studied at FIT, focusing on fashion, shoes and bags. In New York she worked as a shoe and bag designer for Sam & Libby amongst other things. When she was 27 she moved to Spain and designed for Charles Jourdan for two years.
